On the new server we activated two new public domains:

In-band registration is open for now (also for the other domains migrated to Prosody already) – and might be changed as soon as possible to our web registration form which has to be changed because of our migration to Prosody.
If you host your domain with another hosting provider and you want us to do Jabber hosting you have to set some DNS SRV and DNS CNAME entries into your DNS zone file. Many providers allow you to do that, if not, the provider has to do this for you.
(As an alternative you can deligate a subdomain, for example jabber.domain.tld, to our DNS servers and we take care of everything else. Your hosting provider must allow you to do this as well.)
Please set the following entries:
_xmpp-client._tcp.domain.tld. IN SRV 0 0 5222 jabber.hot-chilli.net.
_xmpp-server._tcp.domain.tld. IN SRV 0 0 5269 jabber.hot-chilli.net.
This is how it looks in BIND9 zone files. A web interface of your provider might look different, but the data you have to enter is mostly the same.
Additionally you need a proper SSL certificate for your domain. If you do not provide one, we will use the *.hot-chilli.net certificate for your domain, too.

We stumbled upon this by accident – moods (or to be precise: everything which Pubsub/PEP offer) did not work on secondary domains.
It works now, it was just a little configuration change. The Pubsub service subdomain (e.g. pubsub.jabber.hot-chilli.eu) has to be the same domain as the Jabber service (e.g. jabber.hot-chilli.eu), not a subdomain of the Jabber server’s primary domain (e.g. jabber.hot-chilli.net).
Last night we added two new public domains to the Jabber server:
To avoid login errors or messages and also to avoid certain problems with server-to-server connections we installed proper certificates for the secondary domains today.
We had to restart the Jabber services several times, sorry. The ejabberd config file isn’t commented very good, also Google didn’t tell us the correct settings in the first place. But everything works fine now.
PS: For old SSL connections to port 5223 there are no dynamic certificates. This just isn’t possible because of how SSL works.
The Jabber server was just recovering from a 6 hour downtime on 9am CEST.
Sorry guys, there was a mistake in the config file due to adding a new Jabber domain to it.
We deeply apologize for the trouble caused.
We offer you the chance to run Jabber accounts with your own domain.
You could have identical address names for e-mail and Jabber, for example name@domain.tld. But you don’t have to. You could also run a subdomain like jabber.domain.tld if that fits your needs better.
Another benefit is, that you (and if you like and request it other users as well) get administrative rights for your domain on the Jabber server.

The Hot-Chilli Instant Messaging service is a node on the open Jabber network, based on XMPP, the open standard for instant messaging. The IM service is registered on the xmpp.org website and thus fulfills the requirements to be listed.
The usage of our IM services is completely free of charge (exept if you like to run your own domains on our server).

You can host your own domain (with admin access and full access to the transports and services of jabber.hot-chilli.net) on our Jabber server. This is even possible without moving your domain from your current provider to us, you just need to setup three DNS entries to point Jabber services for your domain to our server.
